This
is a highly sought after collectible art book by Harrison
Fisher. Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, September 6,
1913 with sixteen color bookplates, this folio size book measures
12 3/8" x 17 1/2". Only 6,250 copies were
printed. It is because of this, as well as the fact
that many people will tear out the prints for framing, that
this book, in its entirety, is so scarce. It is unknown how
many are left. Owner Averyl Hill acquired this copy from the
estate of a Southern Lady and it had been been in her family
since it was published.
You
can preview all of the bookplates and book cover by clicking
here. Prints are titled: Luxury, The
Proposal, The Trousseau, The Wedding, The Honeymoon, The First
Evening in Their Own Home, Their New Love, A Happy New Year,
A Spring Maiden, On the Sands, Well Protected, Rejected, Miss
Knickerbocker, Waiting, Santa Claus, and The Kiss. Some
of these prints alone sell for hundreds of dollars, but it
is our hope that whomever purchases this piece of art history
will keep it intact and pass it along to future generations.
Condition:
Overall Very Good with most of the bookplates in fine condition.
The cover is worn with some nicks and markings. The binding
is intact but becoming loose near the contents page. Some
of the pages have minor signs of page turning on the lower
right and bottom. One page has some light finger marks on
the very bottom not touching or anywhere near the illustration.
There is some light foxing on the front blank pages. This
book has no odors.
